About the Association

Our Initiative

The Climate Dividend Association, co-founded early 2023 by Ademe, Mirova, Sweep, Team For The Planet, 2050.do and the Kanopée Partage foundation and chaired by Brune Poirson, aims to foster equity investment in solutions that contribute to carbon neutrality through the development and promotion of Climate Dividends.

In 2024, 35+ user companies distribute Climate Dividends to 100+ investors, and the number should increase drastically in the coming years.

The Climate Dividends Initiative is a non profit organisation on a mission to accelerate sustainable investment by facilitating the measure of positive ecological impacts and enabling them to be understood, used and valued by financial systems and mechanisms.

Our first focus is on one type of impact (carbon, climate) and one type of financial mechanism (equity investment). Hence, our first mission is to steer investment towards companies developing climate solutions contributing to global carbon neutrality, through the development of Climate Dividends.

Climate Dividends are an extra financial mechanism corresponding to the positive contribution to global decarbonisation of a company, that can be claimed by its equity shareholders.

Our concrete role is to:

  • Define what are Climate Dividends: the impact assessment methodologies it relies on, the issuance and distribution process, the usage and communication guidelines for Climate Dividends’ users

  • Coordinate the issuance and distribution of Climate Dividends : manage the distribution platform with transparency and traceability, acknowledge and certify the VV intervening, support the users - companies and investors - to go through the whole process

  • Create the conditions for CD to be accepted and used globally, both as a market best-practice amongst investors and in regulation and reporting standards, alongside other indicators / tools that cover other impacts (like biodiversity or social impact for example)

Our ambition is clear: Make Climate Dividends an internationally recognized and standardized indicator, used by institutions and the market to promote climate solutions and redirect funding towards them.
