SDD vs Claims

What's the difference between a SDD and a Claim?

πŸ‘‰ The Solution Detailed Declaration or "SDD" describes all the methodological elements on which a claim can be made.

πŸ‘‰ A claim is the number of tCO2e avoided/removed by the Solution when using the methodology described in the SDD.

In short, the SDD is the "how," and the claim is the "result."

Solution Detailed Declaration

The SDD section serves as a comprehensive presentation and justification of the methodology. It explains how your organization measures, validates, and calculates the data that is used to make the Climate Dividends claims.

The SDD section contains tabs covering mainly:

  • Eligibility (at company level and at solution level)

  • Methodology

  • Data considerations

  • Impact calculation

  • Attribution key

Claims

A claim documents the specific yearly application of the methodology to your Solution. A claim is based on yearly activity data.

This results in:

  • The number of tons of CO2e avoided/removed

  • The number of Climate Dividends issued for that year.

Validation and verification

In the first year, the SDD with a chosen methodology is validated for a 5-year validity period and the associated claim (application of the methodology for this given year) is verified.

Difference between the SDD and the claims

In the following years, during the validity period, the same SDD remains valid (no external validation is needed) but each claim (based on the same SDD) must be verified.
